David Lee desires to share one of his longtime passions, his appreciation of the natural world, exhibiting its’ splendor in the juxtaposition of light, color, and form. David Lee has taught visual arts, more than a few years ago.

“Even though I thoroughly enjoyed teaching my students and experiencing their creations; I never found the occasion, to create on my own, to the degree that satisfied my appetite to interact with our environment in an interpretative manner.”

It would be difficult to select a medium that he accepts as most rewarding. Currently he is committed to photography. David Lee has traveled the Midwest, Southwest, Southeast, Western Coastline, Alberta, Canada, and Mexico to acquire exceptional imagery that is “eye soaking”.

“What’s curious is that I took up photography to stockpile ideas to create other visual mediums. Well, my stockpile and my continued interest in photography are still on the rise.”

He chose “Geneva Belle”, his mother's name, for his company name, Geneva Belle Art Productions. The small photograph of his mother in the bottom left of the page was taken from her position in the middle of her 1922 senior graduating class of Camden Point, MO. David remembers his mother teaching him how to use a “KEWPIE” box camera as early as 1947. He still has the camera today.

“My mother and I occasionally walked on the farm. 'Mom' was relentless in explaining the spectacles of nature. During the evening hours, we herded the cows in to be milked. Along the way I occasionally paused to observe the amazing 'tumble bugs' and found them to be a most interesting subject matter for close-up photography.”

David Lee was born on a small tobacco farm in Platte County, Missouri. He and his wife now reside in a log home on the West Dolores River located in the San Juan National Forest near Stoner, Colorado.
